Flights to Nicosia
Nicosia, the largest city, capital, and seat of government of Cyprus, stands as an expansive testimonial of more than 4,500 years of continuous inhabitance. Nestled near the centre of the Mesaoria plains, on the banks of the River Pedieos, the city today serves as the island's financial capital and main international business centre. Nicosia bears the distinct character inherent in being the southeasternmost of all European Union member states' capitals and a melting pot of rich historical legacies, cultural diversity and economic prowess. Its name echoing the grandeur of a "white state" or "city of white gods", Nicosia is a truly captivating holiday destination.

Your gateway to this magnificent city is through the Ercan International Airport, located about 13 kilometres east of Nicosia. What began as a British military airport during World War II, now operates as the principal civilian airport of Northern Cyprus, post the island's partition. Presently under talks since 2006, lifting the rule requiring flights to touchdown at a Turkish airport before reaching Ercan could significantly influence the travel dynamics to Nicosia. While passengers from Britain undergo a fresh security check in Turkey due to new measures by the UK Department for Transport, efforts are underway to privatise, enlarge and improve the airport's capacity and security measures. Although recognised as illegal to enter or exit Cyprus via Ercan Airport by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus due to the ongoing Cyprus dispute, the proposed improvements at Ercan spark a promising future for the uninterrupted adventure that awaits in the mesmerising city of Nicosia.
