Learn more about flights to Kalamata

Kalamata International Airport (KLX), nestled between emerald plains of Kalamata and Messini, serves as the city's air gateway. Despite being launched in 1959, it was during the summer of 1986, when charter flights began to intensify and a new terminal built in 1991, that the airport truly hit its stride. It was renamed in 2012 in honour of Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos, reflecting the airport's heightened role in Greek aviation. The airport also hosts a military base of the Hellenic Air Force, creating a fascinating blend of civilian and military aviation on the Pamisos River plain.

Its longest runway stretches around 2.7 km, coursing through the heart of the site. The terminal lies to the east and is comfortably accessible from the city and surrounding areas. However, it's worth noting that public transport access is somewhat limited, with private cars, taxis, or buses being the primary modes of transport to and from the airport.
