Welcome to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, the gateway to Lagos. Nestled in Ikeja, Lagos State, this airport wears the name of Nigeria's fourth military ruler, Murtala Muhammed. Built originally during WWII, it has since grown to include an international and a domestic terminal. Its international terminal was shaped after Amsterdam's illustrious Airport Schiphol, whilst the domestic operations enjoy a spanking new terminal. Once seen as perilous in the late '80s and '90s, the airport has since made significant improvements in safety and infrastructure, leading to FAA's topmost safety rating in 2010. In 2022, a new international terminal was commissioned, raising the airport's annual capacity to 14 million passengers. From its rich past to its vibrant present, Murtala Muhammed International Airport encapsulates the essence of Lagos - constant growth and improvement.
