Perched within the southern confines of the London Borough of Islington, Farringdon radiates a rich sense of history that harkens back to the 13th century, with influential names such as William and Nicholas de Faringdon leaving their indelible mark. The very streets you'll wander echo the district's colourful past - Farringdon Street and Farringdon Road, aptly named after these historic figures, were built over the River Fleet, solidifying the district's integration within the heart of London.

Farringdon station, a beacon of modernisation within this historic district, spearheaded the area's expansion, uniting surrounding quarters of southern Clerkenwell. As a result, these areas, namely the parish of St Sepulchre Middlesex, Charterhouse and Glasshouse Yard, were later incorporated into the Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury in 1900, and eventually encompassed by the London Borough of Islington in 1965.

Today, Farringdon is a bustling hub, undergoing ongoing redevelopment, including the construction of the new Elizabeth line launched in May 2022. Navigating the area is a breeze, with its borders stretching from Clerkenwell Road to the north, Goswell Road and Aldersgate Street to the east, Charterhouse Street, Charterhouse Square and Carthusian Street to the south, with Farringdon Road encasing the west.
